South America
South America entices the traveler with riparian jungles to volcanic lava beds, deep valleys to jagged peaks. The continent's diversity amazed no less than Darwin, germinating his revolutionary theories of evolution. One hundred and fifty years later, there is still plenty of exploring to do. Current technology allows cloud forest discoveries Darwin could not have envisioned. Kayak, ski, surf, ride, the list is endless. Nothing in the world prevents South American adventures.
Argentina
Iguazu Falls, Argentina
From the moonscape of Tierra del Fuego to the mountains of Salta, with the grasslands of Pampas in between, Argentina presents a lifetime of study. The sparsely populated southern regions of the country provide glimpses of Antarctica's ecosystems, as penguins cavort and fur seals roam. Travel west to trek through remote Patagonia. Once in the Andes, you may want to tackle Acononqua at nearly 23,000 feet. Of course, you may feel more comfortable biking through the Salta wine country. Wine or climb, Argentina soars.

Paddle to an isolated beach or explore a sea cave by foot, flipper or kayak. Head west and ride along the trails to the 270 feet tall Iguagu Falls. Brazil blows you away.

Ecuador
Amazon Jungle, Ecuador
Any student of nature equates Ecuador with the Galapagos Archipelago, where a family of finches provided Darwin his missing link to unlock natural selection. Today, conscientious ecotourism assures that the island's unique fauna, including tortoise and marine iguanas, remain undisturbed. Get closer still by diving in these remarkable island waters. The mainland's rainforest highlands present pristine high altitude parks and ancient cultures to explore. Great kayaking along rivers and shorelines, mountain biking along the 'Avenue of the Volcanoes' and trekking deep canyons also await the adventurous at the Center of the Earth.
